The challenge: Homeland security today faces a series of serious
threats. These emerging challenges were close to unpredictable 10
years ago. Examples from recent years would include weapons like
commercial airplanes, simple metal pipelines and fertilizers as Quasam
rockets, envelopes and stamps for anthrax, polonium and tea, fuel and
gas, chlorine, and the most common--suicide bombers. Future threats?
It would be hard to predict, but we can definitely look at cyber and
CBRN terror as reasonable options, along with other threats that, as
of today, haven't been invented.
