Transportation security has undergone a metamorphosis, including the creation of the Transportation Security Administration and the Transportation Worker Identification Credential. This session touches on many of the improvements that have been made or proposed to make our transportation systems safer for travel and for the transport of goods. We'll consider government regulations, as well as cooperative efforts of government and the private sector. Cooperative projects have moved to the forefront of the industry; some have worked well, whereas others have not. The increased use of explosive detection K-9s in transportation security and establishing standards for these teams, which have been deployed worldwide, also are discussed.
