Industry & Interpol: A Working Partnership Combating Global Intellectual Property Crime

A significant key to successfully combating product counterfeiting globally, and the terrorism and organized crime it supports, is enhanced cooperation between industry and law enforcement. The Interpol Intellectual Property Crime Action Group (IIPCAG), comprised of industry and police representatives, works to enhance this cooperation, supporting law enforcement's anti-counterfeit efforts through global initiatives. This presentation will discuss IIPCAG's focus on police training globally, and development of databases designed to provide police and customs officers with rapid identification of counterfeit goods and industry contact points for investigative support. The involvement of terrorists and organized crime in product counterfeiting will also be discussed.
