Offender Perspectives on Customer Retail Theft | |||
| This presentation will report on and discuss findings from recent research on offender perspectives on customer retail theft and security measures designed to prevent it. The project, conducted in Germany, Hungary and the UK, is important because it not only informs, challenges or confirms theories on deterrence, but also facilitates evaluation of companies' investment in security - whether in terms of technology or in staff awareness and training. The research methodology used is also interesting as it involved equipping former offenders with covert cameras and deploying them to enact thefts from retail outlets while being filmed. | |||
