Tuesday, September 30, 2014: 11:00 AM-12:00 PM

Legally compliant best practices that avoid risks in the hiring process focus on understanding how to effectively use pre-employment screening methods, including social media, ID tools, and criminal records. The appropriate use of these methods can mitigate post-hiring issues, such as embezzlement, workplace violence, or the theft of trade secrets. They can also avoid embarrassing revelations: an executive falsified their resume, a previously unknown criminal conviction comes to light, or an employee commits a new crime. Businesses that acquire a new workforce during an acquisition or merger may also need to perform checks on the new workers.
